Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it. For me, Maverick, I started writing songs when I was around 13, as a way to cope with a traumatic childhood. Music saved my life - I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have music. Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career? We had some very stressful misadventures with a producer and manager a couple years ago - it was certainly our craziest time. But we did learn a lot about the music industry and now we know what to look out for! It's a jungle out there. What has been the high point of your music path? Things seem to get higher and higher! Those nights where we've been victorious in competitions are some of our proudest - battles can be very stressful, but when you walk away a winner, it helps validate all the hard work you've put in, and that's the kind of hopefulness that can make the journey a little less terrifying. So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like? Sometimes, a song just spills out of us fully formed, and sometimes we get a great idea and it takes a long time to form into something we're ready to show the world. In my opinion, those songs that come from a flash of inspiration and are done in just a couple hours tend to be the ones that stick with you as a writer, and as a listener. What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be? It's tough. I think one of the biggest challenges is the saturation of the industry that the internet creates. There are a million bands out there vying for listeners' attention. We are currently looking for label representation, and we're determined to work as hard as we can to achieve our goals, but it can be hard to get noticed. Just gotta keep on paying our dues until we get there - there's no turning back! If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why? Well, we're all classic rock fans at heart, especially Led Zeppelin, Rush and Heart. If we ever got the chance to share the stage with one of our heroes, I think we'd faint! On the modern side, we've been dreaming of touring with Halestorm for a long while now - fingers crossed! What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show? The twins and I have been playing together for so long that full band rehearsals are mostly for our drummer's benefit at this point, but we're all perfectionists, so we love to rehearse. It's also a great opportunity to experiment with crazy stage moves and get some serious cardio in... Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it! My Last Gamble came from humble beginnings and went through a lot of developments into the crazy stage show it is today. At first, we performed the song without any instrument switching, then we added a cajon for the drummer, then we added stomps and claps, then we added four part harmony, and eventually it evolved into twin drumming and our drummer playing bass! It's come so far... What's coming up in the future? We're promoting our new album, Path of the Phoenix, and we're about to film some new music videos. We have a couple new singles in the works, too! Where can fans access your music? Our official website has a ton of information.
