What song do you have featured on 'THAT SUMMER by Various Artists'? What is the song about and how do you think it fits into a project about the summer?
My song is "Raindbow." Rainbow is a song I wrote about setting aside any differences people may have (gender, race, religion, political...) in effort to come together as one and music being the universal language to communicate this.
Looking back, what was the best summer of your life and why?!
Wow! That's a tough one. I don't know that I can pick one as I have had so many positive experiences. I would have to say that I am very excited about this upcoming summer as I will be traveling to Europe to visit friends and family in France and Spain. I think it's all about attitude. Just always plan on making the best of any situation and have a positive outlook and you really can't go wrong.
There are so many amazing artists on the compilation CD! Can you talk about a time in your career where you have collaborated with other artists and describe that experience for us?
I have collaborated on numerous occasions and continue to do so. I love the experience of learning new sounds and visions of other artists. You never know what you will end up with. I'm currently collaborating and writing content for a singer who is a blend off Adele meets Alanis Morissette as well as writing and singing with a popular EDM producer. I love collaborations as they allow me to think outside the box and try something new.
The compilation, "THAT SUMMER by Various Artists', is all about songs that have something positive or remind us of Summer in some way. With that in mind, can you tell us how making music has had a positive impact on your life?
I was born in Italy. My mother is Spanish and my father American. Neither of them knew how to speak the other's language so they had a language that was a blend of made up words to communicate. When I came into the picture I was a bit of a hot mess and had to take special ed in school to learn to read and speak effectively. I felt a little isolated at times and didn't quite fit in. Music was he one thing I could relate to and understand. Since then it's always been my friend and passion. It's ingrained in me
Where do you live or work? What is the music scene like there? Is there anything special that goes on in June, July or August in your neck of the woods?!
I live in Colorado Springs. There is a large population of hidden talent here. We have several venues that promote live music at any time of the year. But in the summer especially during the months of June, July and August there are several community events showcasing and supporting local musicians.
Describe your favorite vacation! Do you ever take a vacation or a break from writing, playing or performing music?
I love my vacations with family and friends. I enjoy experiencing new cultures, architecture and people. There are so many stories out there if you just take the time to listen. I use these experiences to write music content. After all, that's what songwriters are...story tellers.
The music scene seems to be bursting with Summer Music Festivals. Do you have a favorite music festival that you play in or attend or is there one summer music festival you would love to play in?
There are a lot of music festivals throughout Colorado especially during the summer. I don't really have a favorite festival but I do have a favorite venue. Red Rock Amphitheater is the most beautiful place to experience music in the backdrop of nature. I have 6 concerts I am planning on attending this summer. I am literally in awe every time I get the chance to experience it. The fact that so many people of all different walks of life can set aside any difference they might have and come together under the stars and in nature to speak in the universal language that is music is so extremely powerful and beautiful! It's a must to experience!
Looking beyond the Summer, what is on your radar for 2018-2019?
I am working a few different things over the next couple of years. I am currently working on developing a singer and writing some songs for her to perform and release, I am writing content for a musical, collaborating on an EDM project, recording my second album for release later this year and partnering with KMG Boulder to open up a location and support the Colorado Springs musician population. It's all happening very quickly! It's a little scary but so exciting!
