ANGEL (Diary of an Outlaw) 10 Questions Music Interview

Hailing from Hollywood, California, ANGEL was raised in two opposite spheres - on the streets of Detroit and on a farm in Michigan. Today, his music reflect the grit of the city and guts of country. At 6’3, ANGEL was pushed into the sport of football until a leg injury led him back to his first passion, music and art. Since then he has never looked back.  Angel's many artistic gifts include singing, songwriting, screen play writing, photography, cinematography and directing. Angel is also known as a fearless poet.

Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.

Music was my outlet in Detroit. It shed light in the darkness and gave me hope. Music is life.

Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?

I was flown out to LA to become the replacement singer for Velvet Revolver, but the band decided to disband. Highest and Lowest moment all in one week! LOL

What has been the high point of your music path?

To be able to connect with people and hear how much my work brings happiness to their lives. I like that.

So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?

Like Nike says: Just Do it.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?

The Corporate Machine's monopoly on promotions and promotional outlets.

If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?

Prince, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Chris Stapleton, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Stones, Johnny Cash, Elvis. Why? Pure Greatness, I would be their guitar guy or janitor. Not worthy of sharing the same breath, let alone the stage, but I'll rock that shit anyway.

What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?

Repetition. Freedom. Water. Love.

Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!

A song I am writing now called: "Ride with Me." A beast and a bitch all in one song.

What's coming up in the future?

The Rise.
