For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! Jazzy, suave, accessible. What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why. I love to sing obviously, but the creative process that goes into writing is my favorite part. The lyrics, music, then to think about instrumentation, seeing how it all gets together. Singing is the cherry on the cake. Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you? Ever since the Pandemic started I have been recording form home. So I have invested in my little setup here. Computer, interface, studio monitors, sub, keyboard, 2 guitars, 3 mics, sound shield etc. I love it, to be honest, it is the interactions I miss. And of course it is annoying when in the middle of a recording the doorbell rings of my dog wants to get noticed ;-) Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing? I like traveling - no - I miss travelling, I like to cook new things, walk my dog, spend some quality time with my husband. Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why? Pink. Because she has proved time and time again that the audience does not only want singing Barbie Dolls with no message Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?
All my lyrics are about something that is emotionally meaningful to me. There are way too many songs out there where you could replace the words with "bla, blah." Per example, I wrote the song "Gone" after seeing a documentary about the immensely high suicide rate amongst men under 40 in the UK. More men died by suicide than any other reason and the ratio compared to women killing themselves was 8:1. Yet you hardly ever hear about it. So I wrote "Gone" as a monologue from a perspective of someone trying to come to terms with the voluntary death of a good friend. Yet I never use words like "suicide" or "mental health." I like to be subtle.
Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year? At the moment I am working on a song addressing female suppression. This was provoked by the chaotic withdrawal of western troops out of Afghanistan. We gave the women hope and now we leave them there to drown. I believe in the power of music and the power of words. I hope to release my second album 2023.
Can you give us a few places where fans can find your music? You can find my music on all the well know platforms, Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music etc. and of course Bandcamp or via the store of my record label Not A Fox Records. If you want to support independent artists - whoever it is you like -please buy a download of your favorite song. It takes a ridiculous amount of streams for the artist to have the same revenue.
