He has provided backup vocals to Mariah Carey, Harry Connick Jr, Patti Labelle and Gloria Estefan and, on the commercial side, his voice can be heard in jingles for Cheapundies. Off the album, “Please With A Cherry” and “This Beautiful Life’ were released as videos; both were directed by Hollywood ‘s Brad Hammer Productions. “Please With A Cherry” currently has 332k views on Twitter and “This Beautiful Life” is climbing fast. Calvert is a member of the Grammy-nominated gospel choir Broadway Inspirational Voices. He toured the world as a singer in “The Broadway Boys” whose album charted in the top ten on iTunes. What is the name of the song you have featured on That Summer, Volume 2? "This Beautiful Life"

How does your song remind you of summer or how does it fit into a summer album? My publicist, James, over at IMP summed it up perfectly. He said, "This Beautiful Life" encompasses the summer theme of new inspiration and appreciating what's around you. For me... It's about letting go of broken dreams and creating new ones because as the song states "The sun is shining just for us!"

What is the inspiration behind your song? Or what is your song about?

It's easy to dwell on the negative or fixate on the successes you haven't achieved. But this song tells us all, quite literally, that "the future is so bright" and I wanted to record a song that reminded me of that message.

How did you write your featured song? Or can you describe your songwriting process? It was a collaboration with my producer/songwriter Jonathan Mendelsohn and my orchestral arranger Jamey Ray. We spent months transforming a 1 verse EDM version of this song into a fully-fledged inspirational power track with a climactic key change.

Of every song you have ever written, what is your favorite and why?

This song, honestly. I'm super proud of the final product. It took 8 people across 3 states to complete and the music video took 32 people across 9 states to bring to life.

Who or what has inspired you most in your music career?

My mom taught me how to sing and my love of Mariah Carey helped me to find my own voice. She is the biggest musical influence in my life, hands down.

Tell us where you live and what the music scene is like there?

I'm a New Yorker. I've lived in Manhattan for 15 years and there is music of every genre, everywhere. There is a performance venue on every corner. It's quite astonishing how many amazing musicians are in this town!

Do you have any advice for new independent artists who are just starting out?

Write or find a song that truly fuels you. Then find a producer that shares your vision and can get your song radio ready without breaking the bank. Make it a collaborative effort and do not rush the process.

Be very precise and ensure every single beat and measure of the song is exactly what you envision. The wonderful thing about being an Independent Artist is having final creative control. That doesn't happen often in this biz! So relish in that fact.

What are your plans for the summer? Doing anything fun and exciting?

I am beginning rehearsals for my upcoming concerts to promote the album. I love getting in a room and learning choreography. Bringing this music to life and performing it live is the next step which I'm incredibly excited about!

What’s coming up in the future

In July, I'm the headlining artist for an LGBT traveling company on the largest cruise ship in the world. I'm very excited. My show will incorporate full multimedia and back-up dancers. It's going to be epic!
