Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it. Yes, this extremely beautiful woman I was dating who filled me with too much emotion with a single look.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
Meeting celebrities. I got to hang out with Paris Hilton at Summerfest in Milwaukee. When we left the party the paparazzi was after our whole group. Never in my life was I chased by paparazzi.
What has been the high point of your music path?
To be self sustaining. I’m to the point where I write, record, mix and master. I do it all from start to finish. I’m the leader of my own success, not contingent on others.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?
I try to stay open to what comes to me. My biggest thing is getting out of the way. Whatever comes to me I try to record or fashion into a song. It’s important to welcome any style or genre. My philosophy is to be a chameleon.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?
Good question. Biggest challenge is knowing talent isn’t enough. That it has to be something different. Millions of musicians and talented people, it’s about finding the niche.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
I mean alive or dead. Depends, I'm a solo act right now and really focusing on production. I better with more small shows. Some just other local songwriters would be fine.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?
Honestly not playing out at the moment. Focusing on writing and creating great product. I get sick of trying to get people to listen. So my goal is just to make undeniable product. My days of chasing people are over
Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!
This one. Not just writing, but the production techniques and the mapping of form. I used a lot of different recording techniques and tools from my songwriter box.
What's coming up in the future?
Just working on content. I’m creating a music video for this song. I’m shooting it myself so it should be quite an interesting challenges. Art is in the future
