Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.
I wouldn’t say there was a catalyst. Ever since I could remember to learn to read and write I was writing songs and poems almost as an outlet for 'em. And that just transitioned into putting my own vocals and turning them into songs.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
Idk about craziest bitch this is insane to me. So this girl that was a huge fan of my music well that’s skipping a head because I didn’t know it at the time. But I was out at the bar and this girl approached me and was just like so damn cool and we clicked hit it off and started dating a little. But the crazy part is I found out later on like maybe a month or 2 after seeing her for a little that she didn’t even live in the same state. She had literally tracked me down through social media, found out where I was just to show up and make an impression. Like woah. You were a huge fan and wanted to meet me so bad that YIU went to those heights and then just played along like you just happened to run into me? Haha. And then just kept that position alive until I found out myself. Just the fact on that alone is insane to me. Like you really found me and played a part to be with me. It’s wild man. But I’m sure this hasn’t happened to just me. It’s just a wild thing that people really make happen.
What has been the high point of your music path?
Definitely getting some number 1 spots on the radio and finishing this EP. definitely a huge goal accomplished. Now it’s time to put all that hard work into motion and just keep grinding.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?
It’s all about feels. So I always record and write about what I’m feeling or going through at that givin time. That’s why all my songs have that certain feeling and vibe behind it. You can literally listen to it and feel exactly how I felt at that time and I think that connection is amazing. Just the relevance is great to have with people.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?
Biggest challenge is definitely the competition. There are so many talented artists right now it’s a very competitive market. But it’s also more fo a push for me to know if I want this I truly gotta do this to the best of my ability. I love that competition. But definitely is the biggest challenge as of right now.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
Blackbear most definitely. He’s always been a hug influence on my music I feel like we both crest vibes and feelings and are kinda on the same platform of being in tuned with our emotions and expressing them through our music. I’ve always wanted to work with him I just know we could create something insane.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?
So I first start by listening to the artists that I like and songs of my choice and just to get myself into a vibe or state of mind Then I’ll take some time alone just so I can soak up everything that’s going on or how I’m feeling and the energy I need to give off. Also a bunch of tea lol. Tea and honey is a life saver Forreal.
But yeah then I’ll go over my tracks and just work on stage presence and where I feel I should be and what I should be doing on stage during certain parts of a song But all that is usually based of feelings and feedback from the crowd.
But no matter what a D!llon show will be one you’ll never forget most definitely. I leave everything out on the stage with every performance so that way I’m truly giving the people all of me. I think it’s just a respect thing to because if you listen to my music and come to my show I’m gonna give you 100% of me back because that’s the level of appreciation that is deserved
Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!
Defiantly PA!N. Man that song was a tough one to get through just because it was like reopening a wound for me When I was recording it, but definitely a huge part of even my own healing process. I really let go with that one and expressed exactly how I felt. Even now when I hear it it hurts just to know like damn I went through that. I wouldn’t have it any other way though. That let’s me know I’m doing my job. I feel like that track is so relatable and gonna be great for the fans and the world Honestly.
What's coming up in the future?
A lot. So I’ve got strange feelings a new single dropping on Christmas Day. Then the EP not long after that into the New Years. So yeah the ending of 2020 and into 2021 is huge and super exciting for me. Just a lot of hard work put into this project and my music in general so to get to see what that brings for me with the releases next year is gonna be great. Huge steps forward that's for sure.
