Fareed El Boricua Arabe - 10 Questions Music Interview
Fareed also known as El Boricua Arabe & El Boricua De La Bachata was a founding member of the legendary Freestyle Group Spirit Matter. Born to parents Abdelkrim Abdallah Senior and Ramona Abdallah Reyes of Moroccan and Puerto Rican descent, in Hell's Kitchen New York City, Fareed's successful career spans over 30 years as a recording artist, promoter (Lyrics at The Nuyorican Poets Cafe) rapper, singer/songwriter and poet. Fareed started his music career as a member of the Hip Hop Crew Future Force along with Andrew Welsh, John Lindsey and Louis Sharpe a.k.a K7 of TKA/K7, at the world famous Roxy Nite Club, as the opening act for the Legendary Hip Hop group The Cold Crush Brothers on August 19th 1983. The Roxy performance opened up the door of opportunity for Fareed to record demo tapes with Full Force and Cultjam. Today, Fareed is the defining voice in the independent Urban Pop Latin market bringing a diverse mix of styles that has yielded him a Youtube sensation and landed many of his song on major radio across the United States.
Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.
My first official performance at the Roxy Nite Club at the young age of 15 years old. That fateful night inspired me to dedicate my life to music.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
hile performing at The Palladium in New York City a fan grabbed the rope of my rocker pants and tried to pull me down into the audience.
What has been the high point of your music path?
Performing on Dominican TV Live with a Bachata band.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?
I start out with a catchy chorus then wait for inspiration to take over.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?
Getting the correct exposure as Promotions is the key to building a fanbase.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
Shakira as we are similar artists.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?
I like to rehearse in the countryside in the outdoors in front of the locals in the Dominican Republic.

The World because it was originally written in Spanish.
What's coming up in the future?
My newest Single titled TRAPPED to be released via Cdbaby on March 7th 2020. The success of Ghost my debut Trap Single was what inspired me to follow up with another Trap Single this time with a Latin fusion.
