Isaac Krapf

Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.

I started writing music when I finished Highschool. Little bit of uncertainty and a "now what?" mindset.

Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?

Projectile vomit onto my gear...

What has been the high point of your music path?

This past summer I had a record release show & a local brewery collaborated with us to release a beer in support of the music with my name/artwork on it.

So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?

Every song I've written I start with the guitar riff and from there add bass and drums. The last thing I write is the vocal melody followed by lyrics.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?

Over saturation of the market. Everyone is releasing new music daily and when you release your project it seems to get buried underneath everyone else's discography. Money is an absolute necessity to push your content to the front.

If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?

Devin Townsend. His music / way he writes has had a major impact on how I've constructed my own music.

What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?

I prepare for a live show with vocal warm-ups & hand stretches so I can be at my best!

Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!

"Carrion" . Tempo changes & fast riffs made it a hassle to record.

What's coming up in the future?

Hopefully some show add-ons to some touring bands coming through Baltimore and new music!

About Isaac Krapf

Isaac Krapf is a multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Maryland. His first work, “Seasick” was released in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID Pandemic. On that record, he wrote & tracked the guitars, bass, vocals, lyrics, and drums. Throughout quarantine, Isaac continued writing and in 2021 released his second record “The Hollow”. In 2022 Isaac is set to release his third record titled "Gates".

In a review, Zone Nights blog described the songs as “Intense….aggressive, but at the same time melodic.” This is mainly due to his instrumentation which includes clean chordal guitar work layered over heavy bottom end guitars.

Isaac Krapf has played in multiple venues throughout the Baltimore area most notably The Recher & Baltimore Soundstage. His music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. Isaac is highly engaged with his audience on social media platforms.
