Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.
Ever since I was a baby my mom sang and dance around me. I believe this is where my love and passion for making music began. At 4 years old my Pre-K music teacher Ms. Scully told my mom I was a good singer and recommended chorus classes. I received a music certificate stating I did well in music. That's really where I started to tend my craft. I wrote my 1st song at 6 1/2 years old.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
I would say, at 8 years old my first album was released, and I felt my melodies were changed not how I envisioned it. I remember not liking to listen to my album. After that experience when I was 9 years old, I had my mom take me back to a different recording studio to redo my first album and release Isabelle’s Heart, the way I wanted it to sound.
What has been the high point of your music path?
Signing with an amazing record label called Sign From The Universe. It has been the high point of my career thus far.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?
I love writing poetry and in my eyes a poem is a song without a melody. My process for writing music is usually starting with a simple idea and then making a poem out of that idea, then finally adding a melody.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?
I would say the biggest challenge an Indie Artist faces today is getting music exposure and getting heard. How do you break through the more than 70 million new songs available to stream every day to build your fan base and eventually sell your music? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what will it be? If I could ask the music industry to change one thing it would be to provide independent artists with mentorships and mass online platforms to get music exposure and build their fan base with a profitable income so they can continue to make music and stay in their happy place.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
I will love to share the stage with Alicia Keys because she is my most favorite artist. When she is on stage everyone is drawn to her amazing talent and vibes. I will be honored to share the stage with her one day.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?
During my rehearsal I do a variety of vocal exercises which is very important for warming up your voice. After warming up, I practice whichever song I plan to perform.
Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!
Flawless is definitely my most personal song, so it was very emotional to write. The music video was definitely the hardest one that I have done since they were many aspects portraying different challenges middle schoolers and high schoolers may witness or face including self-harm.
What's coming up in the future?
My new EP and a Cover Song will be released soon. Stay tuned!
