Nothing but a Nightmare - 10 Questions Music Interview
Nothing but a Nightmare was founded in 2017 by five high school best friends in Langhorne, PA. The alternative/rock/pop band have released music to critical acclaim and streaming success, and they have played countless shows even opening for Andy Grammer. In 2018 they released their first two singles, "The Girl from Scandinavia" and "Down That Road No More." The music video for "The Girl from Scandinavia" was a hit with local teens and the press. During the Summer of 2019, the band released three new singles including their top streamed song and video "Can't Fix Stupid." In February 2019, the band released their debut album "Nostalgia" which received streaming success. After a short hiatus the band returned with their latest singles "Sittin' in the Corner (Friday Night in Boston)" and "Living in a Lie." As the band works their way up the competitive "Alternative Rock" market ladder, they hope to extend nationally. In 2020 they plan on releasing new music and touring to support their music and fans.
Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.
For sure it was seeing Panic! at the Disco, seeing that band do their thing inspired us to start writing and making music.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
Playing a show at a real sketch venue in Philly for 10 people.
What has been the high point of your music path?
Opening up for Andy Grammer. For sure. One of the kindest men in music, super sweet guy and it was an amazing experience.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?
It's usually Eddie and David who do the songwriting and production. The rest of the guys collaborate sometimes as well.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?
Money. Budgeting and spending money on marketing is hard when you don't make that much money to begin with. It's for sure the most challenging part.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
Either Billy Joel or Panic! at the Disco. Both are huge inspirations and it would just be fun to perform with them.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?
Pretty relaxed for the most part, however if there's a show coming up we get pretty intense and in work mode for sure.
Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!
Probably "Sittin' in the Corner (Friday Night in Boston)." The song was talking about Eddie's (Lead Singer) difficulties with college and mental health so that one was hard for sure.
What's coming up in the future?
New album, tour, and maybe writing a Broadway musical...who knows?!
