Nuawd Musiq - 10 Questions Interview

Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.

Growing up in a single parent home, while being subjected to mental, verbal and physical abuse is where the passion of music was berthed. Writing and singing music allowed me to escape the trauma I faced. It allowed me to recover and heal.

Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?

Wow! I'd say being invited to speak on stage in front of 100,000 people at the Family Jamm Concert hosted by none other than Sheila E. That was a concert I will never forget.

What has been the high point of your music path?

The high point of this music path is knowing and hearing the many stories from fans all over the world telling me they want more...they nees my sound, my passion and my music.

So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?

All my songs are based on things I've seen, experienced and or have desired. My goal is to provide music that the world will love and appreciate, also while keeping it clean.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?

I believe the industry has lost its respect for real artist. There are artist out here who have the drive, passion to produce great music, all while building relationships and endorsement deals with different companies. Music is not what it use to be and the biggest challenge is the market is full of great talent but many lack discipline and direction.

If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?

Rick Ross hands down. If I could sign with anyone and real get the chance to have a music mentor it would be Rick Ross. Not only do I love his music but his business sense is absolutely next level.

What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?

My rehearsals are all work and no play. Its like I'm performing live everytime. I only accept perfection.

Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!

My greatest challenge was a song I wrote called "Status!" The song plays out exactly how it happened that night word for word. Basically I got involved with a girl who didn't value me and chose another man who had absolutely nothing to offer but the excitement of the dangerous life.

What's coming up in the future?

Im currently writing more music, building a fan base and trying to reach the world with my music.

Tell us where fans can access your music?

Fans can find my music on all digital media platforms.
