Ohnlé

Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it. Seeing and experiencing Love and heartbreak like most people sparked the practice of writing out my feelings in song form, but I began to take music more seriously when my family fell on hard times a few months after I moved to LA.

Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career? I'm still early in it, but when the pandemic hit, it allowed me to really focus on the craft and create some bangers in the vault. So in 2021 we started performing all over LA, craziest thing I could say happen is someone tried to put their hands down my pants as I was singing to the crowd lol.

What has been the high point of your music path? Performing. I love seeing someone who does not know me at all, 2 minutes later, fall in love with my music!

So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like? Many different approaches, sometimes a bar will randomly come to me and I have to voice memo it down. Other times I'm producing and catch inspiration through the beat then a bar will come, then I build from there. Sometimes I'm in a space and need to express my feelings, and probably the most practical is giving myself a topic and writing from there.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?

The biggest challenge for Indie Artist is funding. Simple. Funding solves everything. Funding allows for a team, which allows for marketing, which allows for ROI which results in a career. If I could ask the music industry to change one thing? Stop Gatekeeping.

If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why? That's tough. I'll keep it current and say Blxst. It's realistic as like a sooner possibility than later. I love his style and his audience. We're different in styles but my style is being able to do multiple styles so we'd mesh well.

What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show? Give me mirrors! I need mirrors! It consists of a lot of breathing and focusing on not closing my eyes too much. But honestly when I rehearse I'm figuring out how I can make the crowd remember my performance.

Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it! I have a song that's unreleased called "Morphine" I wrote that in a deep space of feeling completely misunderstood by everyone around me. It was challenging to write because in the song there was a person that could bring solace, but in real life that wasn't the case.

What's coming up in the future?

"Take Me" just dropped on the 27th of May! setting up a little mini tour of LA. Then it's gearing up for the next single called "Cold" and that one there...That's going to change some things.
