RW (Ray William) Roldan
Falling in love, later in life, with his childhood sweetheart has been an inspiration to RW. It's never too late to find your true love or your "boldest and most honest" musical expression. More energized and creative than ever, RW Roldan is on fire with his new album, Can You Feel This?
Previously, RW had been recording under various band monikers since emerging with his debut album In California Country in 2006. After years of leading the popular ensembles Swing Samurai and Broke Fence (and recording under those names), Roldan, flush with a fresh burst of intense inspiration, released Can You Feel This. Teaming with engineer/producer Max Allyn of The Outpost, the 13 soulful tracks invite longtime fans and welcome newcomers into the deeply emotional experience.
Throughout his career, Roldan has written about what he knows and has lived. Roldan records with famed musicians like Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams), John J.T. Thomas (Bruce Hornsby), Rick Shea (Dave Alvin, Rosie Perez), Bruce Watson (Rod Stewart), Chuck Kavoorus, and Brad Cobb (Tori Amos), David Chamberlain (Roy Buchanan, Manhattan Transfer). Ray's band also includes Mark Hayes (lead guitar) and Luke Hayes (drums). His two Swing Samurai albums received extensive airplay throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and Australia, and songs from those were featured on compilations with greats like Tim McGraw, Billy Yates and The Bellamy Brothers. In addition, Roldan’s tunes have been top finalists in numerous Song of the Year competitions and in 2007, he won “Top 25 songs CD” for IndieMusiccom. The following year, he scored eleven finalist nominations for “Man of Steel” through the FameGame Effigy Awards.

Memories of past relationships of mine and others. Bein' a father and seein' my son get his heart broken a few times reminded me of past broken hearts i'd had.
How did you write your featured song? Or can you describe your songwriting process?
I had this idea of a father hangin' up the phone and sayin' to his wife, she's on her way home again with a broken heart. And it went from there.
If you could share the stage with one Country artist, who would it be?! Willie Nelson
Who or what has inspired you the most in your music career?
Just good story tellin' artist's who drew me into there stories.
How did you first get introduced to Country music? Or what made you decide to pursue Country music? I went from rock to blues and to country and then heard Merl, and Waylon and George and so on and from there developed my style.
Of the songs you have written, which one was the most challenging to write and why? I wrote Lauryn's Song about my wife and that was hard, as it had to convey a truth that lived in my heart.
Where do you live and how is the Country music scene there!?
I wrote Lauryn's Song about my wife and that was hard, as it had to convey a truth that lived in my heart.
So, what’s coming up in the future? I've been takin' under the wings of Allswell records out of Nashville and I'm completing Videos for the soon to be released album, Can You Feel This by RW Roldan and we're starting recording on my 5th album (still to be named).
