I always wrote poems while growing up. Its just something I enjoyed doing. Playing with words to see where it would end up.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
Winning a local Songwriting contest with my first collaborator Michael Betts. It was our first song "There She Goes" which we did in 1985. I put the song on Spotify. "There She Goes" Featuring Michael Poland and Members of Topper - Its amazing that people are listening to the song on Spotify.
What has been the high point of your music path?
Having "All Tied Up" being on a Grammy Nominated Independent Album. WOA Records Independent NO. 1'S Volume 9. The album charted on itunes in the UK and went to No 1. So I can say, I have a Grammy Nominated song and I'm a Grammy nominated Songwriter.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like? When something hits me I mark it down. Then we go from there. I keep rewriting till I get it right. No matter how many rewrites I do.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?
More access to get songs charted on the different music charts for radio airplay. Like Billboard.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
Bon Jovi, it would be a rockin' experience.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?
I'm just a lyricist. So I don't perform.
