Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.
The first moment I recognized I could write music was when I was 7 or 8. I’d write a lot of thoughts into a journal and listen to Kurt Cobain Cd’s where I saw someone venting through their music for the first time. So sometimes I’d write in the style of the Cd’s I’d listen to at a young age.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
Me and a friend who was featured on a track where I was on nearly died from smoke inhalation filming a music video in a warehouse vibe.
What has been the high point of your music path? Knowing what I was capable of and not having to doubt the application of my sound/style on a record.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like? Sometimes I freestyle and sometimes I free flow write down ideas. It really depends on the moment I like to keep things natural in creating.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be? I’d tell them to change the overall structure so artists don’t get entrapped In deals when they’re young. The biggest challenge otherwise is probably self confidence.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
Cole or Drake. J.Cole because he was the only artist who spoke to me in my worst times. Drake because his overall influence is something you can’t deny and coming up he gave Canadians someone to point to when they said we had no sound.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show? Singing exercises/testing of tones & how songs flow into one another. I haven’t performed as much live but it’s definitely as calculated of a process you could imagine.
Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!
There’s a song on the EP that Menace is on that was very personal that took a while to figure out for the second verse. How to properly express the emotions of that song was like going through the fire and back.
What's coming up in the future? I’m dropping a EP called EXILE hopefully in the next month or so. I usually try to always keep working there will probably be a few singles coming as well.
