Victor Alexeeff

Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.

As a teen, I remember watching "Planet of the Apes". The music was so exotic, so perfect for the movie - I was in awe. The idea of creating music to film and the impact it has is something that stuck with me.

Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?

Too many things to list! There's always that one crazy person in the audience... and then there is equipment failure. But the one weird thing I do remember more than others was during an outdoor concert at Ontario Place in Toronto. When the sun went down thousands of tiny little flies appeared - like a big cloud. It was hard not to inhale those bugs. And then, all of a sudden, they all started dying, for whatever reason. So they were falling on the keys and it got really slimy to play on that keyboard. But through all that, we didn't miss a note ;)

What has been the high point of your music path?

It's always a high point to play for people -- and my cats -- and take them on a musical voyage.

So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?

I wish I knew. It's a mystery -- it just happens.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?

In my view, a big challenge for Indie Artists today is to keep the lion share of the revenue. A decentralized blockchain system would be cool.

If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?

That would have to be either Genesis, YES, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, or Jimi Hendrix. For me, they were original, progressive, and experimental -- things I share.

What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?

The best way to prepare for a live show is not to think about it. Either you're ready or you're not!

Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!

I have yet to write that one!

What's coming up in the future?

Another album similar to the idea of Classics Unleashed. I will share later :)
